About
What would you want to know? What should I tell you?
I was born in Southern Indiana. I grew up in Central Illinois. As an adult I lived in East Tennessee for 10 years and got two degrees while I was there: Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management and a Master of Education (Counseling Emphasis). I now live in Northeast Ohio and work in the field of education as my day job. I am working on starting my own company.
I have worked in food service (if you want to call Mickey D’s and DQ food), collections, Yellow Page advertising, direct marketing, electronics, data storage and processing, construction, database marketing, contract administration, IT, energy, education, counseling, accounting, retail, purchasing, manufacturing, web design and politics. I feel fortunate to have done a lot of different things.
I enjoy music, history, anthropology, people watching, politics, spirituality, intelligent discussion, humor, crocheting, sewing, felting, quilting, embroidery, cooking, watching old movies, stuff that makes me think, sing, move, or smile.
Wanna know that freaky kinda stuff? I am a double Capricorn, but don’t feel like one most of the time. There is a big huge Grand Trine in the middle of my chart. Maybe I’ll post it here one day. My life number is five, or the Hierophant if you want the Tarot complement. My elements are earth and fire. I like to work with the moon phases. In Chinese Astrology I am a Monkey. I see 11:11 and other ‘derivatives’ many times a day. I am an ordained minister in the State of Ohio but I am not practicing.
Always been attracted to the otherworld type of stuff. But, I do not practice any religion because frankly, I think religion is of man, not divine, and has caused way too much harm and death in this world. But I do realize that people need to feel like they belong and like to hang out with like minded people, that is the void that religion fills. I do believe that I am a divine and spiritual being having a human experience.
In my teens I studied tarot and palmistry. I was an evangelical Christian for 20 years until I saw the light. After Christianity I returned to my more pagan roots and reconnected with mySelf. Then I started studying all sorts of religion. From that I took away some commonalities that I call Universal Laws. These seem to be found in all cultures and religions…like some variation of the Golden Rule is everywhere. See Wiccan Rede for another example.
My DNA is mostly Irish with a fair bit of Cherokee thrown in for good measure. There’s underdog, wisdom, fight, and magic in my blood. When I was a small child I didn’t understand being told I had an old soul. I’ve heard it all of my life. Took me a long time to appreciate it. I’ve always been able to ‘see’ and am extremely empathic and very intuitive. My mother always encouraged me to follow my inner voice. She would say, “Trust the magic in you.”
I’ve been married a few times, I’m not married now, and I am quite okay with it. It is good, at this time in my life, to only have my own input into what I want out of life and how I want to spend my time. I have two children, both grown men. One is a chef, who loves to create and prepare great food, in Florida and the other loves and restores classic cars here in Cleveland.
I am an Independent voter. I am not beholden to any political party but I follow politics closely. I did work on a presidential campaign for a Democratic candidate once but that turned out to be a lesson in reality. The parties…they are all the same. The candidates…all the same. Look, it takes a special kind of egomaniac to even THINK they could be president, let alone to actually run for office. What I do know is that we need to dramatically reduce the size and power of government. Too much government is suffocating all of us. To that end, I am more and more leaning Libertarian.
I’m pretty middle everything. Middle class. Moderate voter. Midwesterner. Middle aged. Although, I am 53 and a good friend tells me I am not middle aged by asking me, ‘How many people do you know that live to be 106?” Good point.
I was raised by two exceptional people. Everything that is good about me is because of them. My dad has the greatest integrity of anyone I know or have ever read about. He walks his talk. I am strong and independent because of him. I am so many things because of mom. I am not sure where to begin or end. Even from the otherside she is still teaching me to believe in myself. I am fearless and outspoken because of her. I fight for the oppressed and abused because of her. I love animals and fight for their rights because of both of them. I’m sure I’ll write more about them as things come up.
I have a very cool brother too. We never fought as kids. We did plot together though. We had a great childhood and I’m very thankful for it. I have many friends and a few very close friends who have also helped mold me. I feel very fortunate to have the family and friends that I have had throughout my life.
Basically, I am a pretty average American writing about things that effect my life. Since I am pretty average, these same things probably effect most people in the United States. That’s what I’ll write about here. Life in America as I know it.
I don’t like one way conversations. Engage me. I won’t shout at you so please don’t shout at me. I like communication and dialogue. If you don’t agree with me, intelligently communicate your position to me. Maybe you’ll be able to persuade me to view things in a different light. I am pliable.
I think that’s about it. Now you know a little about where I’m coming from. Dig it?
