the quiet current rages below

stillness, the stillness
a new silence that descends
in darkness
and space, space
that moves among us
invisibility
it is the uneaten food
the empty plate
the unused shoes
the too big bed
the listless clothes unworn
that hang on one side of the closet
the wife, now widowed
the husband without wife
the unanswered questions
the where of God
the words unspoken
the love that still lives
endlessly
the stillness, the stillness
